This project was completed under a licensed architect at Marker Construction.
Shekinah Christian School is a local k-12 that is rapidly outgrowing its existing space and in need of updated classroom spaces.  The scope of work for this project included the preliminary design of three phases to take place over 10 years.
It was very important to ensure renovations in Phase 1 remained constant through Phase 3 in order to eliminate any need for re-renovating a new space.  This made the sequencing of renovations crucial in the preliminary design in addition to tackling the client's priority list.
Phase 1 focused on the addition of several classrooms including five "flex" classrooms for STEM activities, two elementary classrooms, a computer lab, cafeteria & kitchen, Men & Women's locker rooms, and additional square footage for specific administration areas.  This phase also includes a new bus loop drop-off, moving the existing baseball field to the back of the building, adding a softball field.
Additions and renovations in Phase 1 were strategically located to give the exterior a whole new look while keeping all of the existing building.
Phase 2 targeted a new auditorium, locker rooms, and weight room.
Phase 3 includes the addition of two final "Flex" classrooms, metal shop, woodshop, makerspace.  On the exterior, the addition of a Track & soccer field, and tennis courts.
My role in this project spanned from preliminary design of the new & renovated spaces in all three phases, creating presentation drawings to show design intent to the client, engaging in client meetings, and having a key role in the presentation of the budget to the school board.
